It all started back on November 1st when a large group of us decided to run a portion of the Colorado Trail. The goal was to give everyone a flavor for trail running, being self supported and soaking in the beauty of the trials in our own backyard. It was so awesome to be back on the trails at this time of year! The crunch of the dry leaves, the smell of the sage and pine and the peaceful tranquility of cruising through the mountains. It was a perfect day! The other amazing thing about the day for me was that I got to run with John, Steve, Sonja and Anthony to the 28 mile mark. It has been a long time since I had any interest in running that long and it was a great day to take on the challenge. I wavered a bit when I started to worry that I was going to hold up my friends but it all worked out in the end. Steve, Sonja and Tony continued on to the end of the 3rd segment and covered an amazing 41 miles for the day. I was so thrilled to see so many people complete the 16 miler as it isn’t easy! We were all so grateful to have Parri, Troy and Priscilla serve as our Super Support Crew! Thanks again you guys!
The other intention of this event was to prepare some of us for the next challenge we were facing…The Ultimate XC 50K trail run in Moab, Utah….more on that in my next posting…
